Kenneth Mitchell, a Baltimore native, is the founder of Better Path, a transformative organization dedicated to helping individuals break free from the cycle of addiction and criminal behavior. Mitchell’s personal journey to redemption is one marked by resilience, education, and a deep commitment to helping others find a better path in life.

Mitchell graduated from Baltimore City College High School, but like many, he was lured by the allure of fast money. This decision led him to a 13-year sentence in federal prison, where he faced the consequences of his choices. Reflecting on his past, Mitchell recalls, “I was drawn to the allure of fast money and sacrificed my future to satisfy the present.”

However, Mitchell’s time in prison became a pivotal turning point. He witnessed firsthand the destructive power of drugs and addiction on individuals and families. Determined to change the narrative, Mitchell vowed to not only turn his own life around but also to be part of the solution for others who found themselves trapped in similar cycles of despair.

During his incarceration, Mitchell seized every opportunity for self-improvement. He completed the Entrepreneurship Certificate Program in Business Law and Ethics, Accounting, Computer Systems, and Financing through Kent State University Ashtabula. He also logged over 19,000 hours working in the Unicor facility, where he learned valuable skills in data entry. These experiences laid the foundation for his future success and fueled his belief that the right tools and environment are essential for personal transformation.

Mitchell’s mantra, “The only place success comes before work is in the dictionary,” reflects his unwavering commitment to hard work and discipline. After his release, he dedicated himself to building a life of purpose, which included founding Better Path, a program designed to help others escape the destructive cycle of addiction and criminal behavior.
